Sparks gives X Factor tips

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks has given some tips to wannabe X Factor contestants.

Sparks said: “Make sure you get a lot of sleep, because it is the last sleep that you’ll get. Bring a camera as there will be a lot memories and it will go so fast.”

She added: “Song choice is definitely key as cliched as that sounds, because if you are singing the wrong song and you are feeling it and nobody else is, it might not work out for you.”

Sparks also said: “You should be yourself, as people will be voting for you, not for someone you are pretending to be.”

X Factor has already started on ITV1 with a new line-up featuring Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole.

Former judge Sharon Osbourne was replaced by Cole following a fall-out with Danni Minogue during the last series.

This year’s audition highlights include a pensioner, the sister of a successful boy band member and a duo in Wales named Ant n’ Seb.

Those behind the show have said that there had been a record-breaking number of applications, with tens of thousands of hopefuls attending auditions all around the UK.

Judge Simon Cowell said he is looking for the new Amy Winehouse this year.

He said: “I want someone who is going to represent this country all over the world for the next ten, 20 years - that’s what I’m looking for.

“I want somebody who is different and unique and I want to find somebody as good as Amy Winehouse - I’d love to do that.”

Jordin Will Return to the “As I Am” Tour in Australia

Singer Alicia Keys will return to Perth in December to headline An Evening on the Green.

Keys’ performance at Sandalford Wines on December 20 will be her first visit to WA since a sell-out Australian tour in 2004.

Described by one critic as a member of “modern R and B royalty”, Keys’ list of achievements is impressive – 30 million album sales worldwide, 11 Grammy Awards and four US number one albums.

Her fourth album As I Am debuted at number one in the United States, achieving the highest first week sales of any female R and B artist in history.

It peaked at number two on the Australian charts and received high praise from music critics.

The New York Times rated As I Am as the singer’s best album yet while Blender magazine described the music as “dizzying, even mesmerising”.

The Independent said of her live show: “Keys proves she’s still in a league of her own”.

American Idol winner and Australian chart-topper, Jordin Sparks, will be the support act.

The Perth concert will be Sparks’ first live performance in Australia following the success of her number one Australian single No Air. Adelaide hip-hop funk act Lowrider will open the show.

They toured nationally with the 2008 Big Day Out and released their second album ‘Diamond Amongst The Thieves’ in March this year.

Tickets go on sale Friday August 22.

Jordin Host of Teen Celebrities Gather for Do Something 101

LOS ANGELES, Aug 07, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Today, Jordin Sparks demonstrated an easy way for every teen to be an American Idol - with no singing skills required.

Sparks joined hundreds of teen volunteers gathered at the Staples Center in support of Do Something 101, a campaign to collect school supplies for students in need, created by DoSomething.org and Staples, Inc.
“This summer, Do Something teens rallied to bring tens of thousands of dollars worth of office supplies to Staples store collection points,” said Sparks. “Today’s event is a reminder that the weeks leading up to back to school is a great time to join Do Something 101 and help supply students in need.”

Along with Sparks, celebrities including Varsity Fan Club, KayCee Stroh, Tyler Stokes, Michael Petersen, Lauren Storm and Alexandra Krosney traded microphones and stage lights for notebooks and binders as they joined forces to stuff 5,000 bags with pens, calculators and binders that will be distributed to local teens, just in time for back to school. Today’s event is just one of many to be held throughout the country as the drive continues building momentum.

Every binder and highlighter counts toward a successful back to school for the more than 11 million children in the United States lacking basic school supplies. Launched in July with a $50,000 donation, Do Something 101 gives teens a chance to make this summer count for more than endless text messages and golden tans. By simply donating pencils, notebooks and other much-needed items, teens can participate in a national drive that benefits local students in their own communities. These and other supplies are currently being accepted at all Staples locations through Aug. 31.

“The teens who assembled 5,000 kits today for Los Angeles students are role models for their peers and exemplify what it means to give back to their communities,” said Shira Goodman, executive vice president of marketing at Staples. “We hope teens will continue to donate throughout the month, as we know having the right supplies makes for a successful school year.”

Teens who want to make a difference can go to www.dosomething101.com for ideas on how to run local school supply drives. Suggestions include teens holding a movie night and “charging” their friends a backpack filled with school supplies as admission. Also, teens could put together a battle of the bands, car washes or carnivals with people donating school supplies at the entrance. Whether holding a school supply drive at summer camp, during a summer sports league or at a neighborhood block party, Do Something has tips, resources and flyers for how to get started and make the most of every teen’s summer.

Also, Jordin-Web.net’s content might possibly be up for sale soon, more info on this soon!

JSW Possibly…

Okay, I feel like I owe everyone who still actually visits this site an explanation. I know that I told all of you guys about a totally new Jordin Web, but I honestly don’t know if that’s going to happen any more. This website has been open for longer than any other Jordin site. When this site had a lot of visitors, it was definitely the first one that I had that was actually good. I had 2 small ones before this that never went anywhere.

That being said, I don’t feel motivated to post news or do any more work on this website. There’s other Jordin sites that seem to have more people interested in. To me, it seems like no one cares about Jordin Web anymore. Lately, I haven’t been as interested in Jordin anymore. I can’t say that I’m not a fan, but I’m not as crazy about her as I used to be, proabably because I can’t see her & her great personality on American Idol every week anymore.

So, to sum it up, keeping Jordin Web open is definitely up in the air. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet, but we’ll see.
